The Harry Callahan Gallery at APG presents an exhibition of photographs by Ron Haviv, Gary Knight, Antonin Kratochvil, Joachim Ladefoged, and James Nachtwey, five members of the world-renowned VII Photo Agency who recently traveled with Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in order to shed light on the suffering of the Congolese people as they struggle to survive through a war that remains virtually invisible to the outside world. The photographers traveled from May - August 2005 with Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
The death toll in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the highest ever attributed to war in Africa or anywhere in the world since World War II.
The images of Democratic Republic of the Congo: Forgotten War, an international touring exhibition, were selected for display at the Atlanta Photography Group Gallery and curated by Alison Morley of the International Center of Photography, NYC.
The Harry Callahan Gallery is dedicated to presenting photographs of exceptional merit. The Forgotten War demonstrates the power of photography to shine a light on one of the world's darkest and most violent conflicts. APG is honored to have been asked by the Nobel Prize winning organization Doctors Without Borders to host this important exhibition.
The exhibition is free and open to the public at the APG Gallery-Tula Art Center, 75 Bennett St. Space B-1, Atlanta. Ga. 30309
